Muir Cottage, Inverey (10 – 12 July 2009)

Thirteen club members, and guests, attended the Muir Cottage Weekend Meet:
Andy, Carole, Bob, Linda, Malcolm, Kasia, Elsie, Ailsa, Paul, Marion, Iain, Lesley and Deirdre.

On the FridayBob, Malcolm, Kasia, Deirdre and Elsie set off from Muir Cottage on their trusty steeds for the very remote An Sgarsoch and Carn an Fhidlier. Andy, Carole (and Beinn) walked from Linn of Dee to Carn a’Mhaim and back (Selection of photos below).

On the Saturday, Carole, Elsie, Linda and Lesley (and Bracken and Jeanie) headed for the Spittal of Glenmuick and undertook a circuit of Loch Muick. Iain, summitted not only the Corbett Carn na Drochaide but also the remote Munro Beinn a’Bhuird. Bob, Malcolm, Kasia, Paul and Marion set off from Muir Cottage by mountain bike to Inverey and onto Altanour lodge, where bikes were abandoned and Beinn Iutharn Mor and Carn Bhac were summitted. Not satisfied with two Munros, Bob and Malcolm also summitted An Socach. Andy set off driving, for what seemed like forever, to the end of Glen Lyon to bag two ‘new’ Corbetts – Meall Bhuidhe and Sron a’Choire Chnapanich (Selection of photos below).

On the Sunday, most headed home or undertook more leisurely pursuits around Braemar.

The weather on Friday and Saturday couldn’t have been better.
A superb barbeque (thanks to Bob and Linda) was also had on both Friday and Saturday nights.
